JumpStart

In partnership with United Way of West Alabama, the goal of Sawyerville JumpStart is to help students prepare for Kindergarten. In JumpStart, students will learn the alphabet, numbers, shapes, and other concepts that will help them grow academically.

JumpStart had a great summer in 2026!

31 students split into 2 classrooms
- the largest number of JumpStart students to date!
4 weeks of half-day programming
Students practiced writing their names and worked with numbers, shapes, and colors
Growth in confidence and school readiness seen in students as they practiced walking through a cafeteria line, following routines, and interacting with peers

Dates and Times
- Monday - Friday
- 8:00am - 12:00pm
Requirements
- Students must be 5 years old by September 1st
- Students must be enrolled at Greensboro Elementary School for the following Fall semester
- Students should have little to no school experiences
Location
- Greensboro Elementary School
Transportation
- School bus transportation is available if your student is 5 by the time the program begins
- Carpool is done in the back of Greensboro Elementary School
Meals
- Hot breakfast and lunch are provided each day
Parent Orientation
- Held at Greensboro Elementary School
- Parent Orientation and teacher meet-and-greet is mandatory
- One parent or guardian must be present
Cost
- JumpStart is free for all students. Donations are always welcome.
