A Scholarship for Former Campers & Counselors from Hale County

In honor of Leslie Manning, who served as the Director from 2008-2016, Sawyerville is proud to offer an educational scholarship for former campers and counselors from Hale County, AL.
It is the greatest honor to have this scholarship named for me and my tenure as director. My hope is that we can continue to nurture and stay connected to our campers and staff members from Hale County as they pursue their dreams after high school. We hope this fund will only grow over the years!

​Applicants must be:
  • from Hale County, AL.
  • a previous staff member or camper at Sawyerville Summer Camp. Preference will be given to those who have been both a camper and staff member.
  • accepted or enrolled in an institution of college rank or a technical school.
  • pursuing professional certification or a degree.​

Application and Deadline

Applications for the 2025-2026 school year are now closed.

An application for a scholarship may be made every year a student is in college or technical school. Preference will be given to those people that have not received a scholarship two years in a row in an effort to make room for new scholarship recipients as much as we can.

Special Circumstances

Should you require funding outside of our regular schedule, you can apply for a special circumstances scholarship. Examples of qualifying events includes: late enrollment, studying abroad, change in household income, etc. To request an application for a special circumstances scholarship, please contact us.
